Shonky GTi - Dorset - £225

Post by Dollywobbler »

We've had this before, still on the Retro-Rides forum. Still looks pretty awful, but might be solid and savable.

Not in 'Leech' condition but might not be as bad as it first appears?

Oh yes - I remember the red string holding the wing mirror on  It's a phase1 valver by the look of the body-kit isn't it?

Certainly looks like it. No engine bay shots though. If it is a valver, it's done well to not become an engine donor. I might not ask the question on R-R for that very reason...

If it's a 1990 then it would be a ph2 if it were a valver. Seats look GTi ish rather than 16v, but it's hard to tell.

I'd maybe be interested if it's a 16v, but we'll wait and see.

Seller says : Just needs a tidy up.

Judging by the surface I reckon that's going to be quite a holy ride! Crusty pipes and ventilated inner wings? It is strange that he hasn't put up a pic of what's under the bonnet.

All those Retrorides guys are scared of anything they can't saw the springs down and 'band' the wheels on! :-"

I inquired about this one before due to the colour... It's an 8 valve GTI with phase 2 bumpers and phase 1 skirts.
