Considering the rot in the windscreen frame and the massive stoff in the driver's door, I would say this one is "fair enough" to be broken.

hello people .. it might be a sad fact that most citroen 16v's end up in pugs .. but 2 things ..

a) at least the engine lives on rather than being melted down to make tins for baked beans .. its a bloody fantastic engine which puts other to shame and should be given all opportunities to carry on shaming other modern cars !!

b) if it wasn't for the theiving scumbag chav's who lived in blackbird leys nicking every GTI car available during the 80's we would have our very own 16v planted in our engine bays and you fellas would be left in peace and so would our knuckles !! ;-) .. i am of course speaking from the 309 point of view. I know citroen tried to make it hard by making all their looms green !! Insurance companies just hiked all the prices making owning a GTI an expensive thing.. Peugeot then decide that they wouldnt sell many GTI-16's and therefore didnt build RHD versions :(

Well hello and welcome vee6.

The great 16v debate will continue forever and a day but one thing remains true.... posession is nine tenths of the law!

Welcome to the club though, how about an introduction?

Actually they didn't import any RHD versions because in order to fit the engine to a RHD car they would have had to have made a small mod to the braking circuit, that in turn would have meant the whole design having to undergo another set of EU safety tests for one model alone.

It was deemed too cost-inneffective....shame really.

yeah .. its due to the complexity of the exh manifold .. its a work of art. Fouled the brake servo on RHD vehicles. Yet another nail in the coffin of not getting the gti-16 over here

the tb set up belongs to a chap who used to have atb'd bx 16v and has bought it back, selling the parts off i do believe!

love the 309! ha done for many years! bro had one too! always had an eye on a goody but my 8v died and i needed a car quick and hte bx popped up!

The 309 did handle very well indeed! (62mm front and a click on the rear dropped) and sad as it is i doo miss the ol girl! hahaha!!
there is a good wood floating about with a V6 lump in it too!

it is a shame that pug didnt bring the 309 gti 16 here as that would have sold quite a few i think! but then its much like the xantia activa, the 3l v6 stayed in europe but never made it over here!

i think they said originally that it was something to do with the unsuitability of our roads for the car!
