S.O.S request tzd turbo alternator

the alternator on my tzd has failed, looking for a replacement used/recon or just one that works, can anyone help? no urgency as i can use the tgd in the meanwhile but early january ish would be good, thanx all.

Hi bud,

there's plenty for sale on ebay with quick delivery too.
However, ime sure there would be a local engineering firm close to you who would happily recon yours within a week.

I'd go recon. Cheap alternators tend to be cheap for a reason, and changing them is no fun!

are the alternators on all bx diesel the same 1.7t/d 1.9n/a?

Yes bud, i think they are.

I bought a recon one on ebay last year and it failed four hours into a journey to Cornwall. However the company from which i bought it did refund me. The one i had reconditioned is still working fine.
I do have a brand new one as spares but as i have a fleet of BXs ime afraid ime keeping it.
I would have it reconditioned as Ian says, you will know where you stand as they are a pain to change twice.

they have higher amperage for aircon models, and you can put an aircon one on a non aircon car, doesn't work so well the other way, but will go.

They have different output alternators not necessaraly linked to aircon, or wether it is 1.7t or 1.9na some cars have the towing option with twin cooling fans too. The differnce between the alternators is the number of ribs on the belt / pulleys; you get 4 ribbed and five ribbed. My local factor were still able to supply one for my TZD a couple of weeks ago.

Get a rebuilt one from ebay, Item number 170957428794 should sort you out.
