1991 1.7 TZD Turbo Hatchback - For Sale (On E- Bay)

Post by RxBX »

As title listing (H140 GLX) spotted for sale on E-BAY , should make a good TZD for someone once the rusty spot is sorted !
E-bay seller wrote: CITROEN BX 17 TZD Turbo - This vehicle has had two owners from new and has been in my possession since 1995.

The car has been stored and used for 1 - 2 months in each year for 12 years, and is now used daily.

I replaced the spheres a few years ago, and the hydraulic pump just over a year ago.

There is rust in the windscreen surround which I have tried to show in a photo (a front valance panel can be bought to repair this) and the charging light glows faintly, but the three year old battery is still being charged by the alternator.

The car is MOT'ed until May 2013 and there is four months tax remaining, which I will leave on the car if I feel the selling price is satisfactory.

Winning buyer can pay cash on collection, but please place a 50 pounds deposit with paypal on auction end.

No way. This is only 20 miles away from me, and my dad lives in the next village over... Don't think this'll go for 300 quid though, i'd expect it to go for a fair bit more :) Looks like it'll polish up nice, albeit not as nice as a triton green car.

I'm surprised it's still so cheap, looks in better nick than my TXD and it's just around the corner from me! Bet it'll go up a fair bit tomorrow though/

£627 - not bad for out-of-season. Even better, a 2CVing chum has bought it.

Sunday is looking like pretty decent weather so camera charged and ready.
Any good advice about the windscreen rust?? The chap i'm buying from mentioned a front valance panel to repair?

Martin !
This is what the seller actually stated:-

Which is total Bull$hite as no such after market panel exists and I'd probably be a winner if I went down to Ladbrookes and placed a bet that an O/E would be 'NLA' !

The only hope would be to get a good section to cut out from a donor vehicle to weld into yours but that would involve the removable of the windscreen !

Personally I wouldn't bother to much with that @ the 'mo' I'd just get it home and clean it up, see how it runs etc. and then take it from there by making up a list of more important things which may need doing !

Regarding the 'Rust spot' I'd just fettle the rust out to clean bare metal (As that WILL end with a hole) and then just use 'Isopon-P40' (The glass-fibre stuff to make good the hole) and then blend/level up with some 'Isopon-P38' (Filler/Bodge) to level up and then touch up with some 'Doom Blue' paint for now (Take care not to crack the windscreen or damage the seal during the repair work) !

:D
