1991 1.9D Athena Hatchback, For Sale (On E- Bay)

As title listing spotted CMN-860-B (I-O-M registered) for sale on E-BAY as a classified ad. asking price £1350 a bit optimistic IMHO as it needs some TLC (i.e. front bumper inserts and a nice set of correct trims) which adds cost to the final price !

This Citroen Bx 1.9 Diesel with only 94000 miles on the clock has spent all its life over on the Isle Of Man(hence the number plate).

The car has had a recent service and a new ignition barrel and radiator fitted. Its also had a new rear engine mounting. This lovely BX also has an electirc sunroof which is ideal come the summer.

This is an ideal practical classic. It is very economic. The interior is in extremely good condition(see photos).

Afaik 1.9d Athenas werent available in the Uk so its either a conversion or a foreign spec!

From my understanding this will be a TGD Athena.

I also think it's very optomistic! Besides the bumper & trims already mentioned, there's a dent in the o/s/r wheel arch lip and the drivers door paint looks suspect above the handle.

It bugs me when people offer cars like this at stupid prices and don't even attempt to put a set of wheel trims on or write a decent description!

Could it have been a ROI car and then registered as a IOM car? ROI has some strange specs, ie Vauxhall's always badged as Opel's, despite being RHD.

I agree. The Athena was only available in the UK as a 16TGS. There was a turbo diesel variant of it's French equivalent, the Millesime, though. Perhaps the fact that it's an Isle of Man car might have something to do with it? Bit ropey for that money as well.

Possible Matt, but its the wright colour, and has a black interior which TGS models didnt have, so I still think it started life petrol powered.

Either that or I think the Irish suggestion could be a good call - I've seen all sorts of oddball specs for Ireland, mostly to get round the purchase or import taxation - BX van in GTi trim and a TD engine, and 3 door Xzara VTR vans to name just 2

If it has sold, 300 quid for a half decent BX diesel isn't bad. It's definitely a 16TGS Athena that's had a diesel lump dropped in it though - probably when the Solex carb or the head gasket (or both) went south in the original engine!
