I hate to be blunt, but that car is not "riddled" with problems, that's an over-exaggeration.

It's more a case of you needing to buy something more modern, run by a computer, that both you and any half-wit mechanic are capable of maintaining.

To infer you were sold "a dog" (which is what you have done over the past months) is ridiculous.

I've known Mick (personally) for years, i've also seen and driven that car, it may have a few minor issues like they all do and he was up-front with everyone when he advertised it for sale.

That meteor suffers the same fuel issue that mine did when bought it, i have fixed it with KNOWLEDGE and patience, clearly both of which you lack.

(Apologies to those (and the Mods) that think this is a little strong, personally i think it's a tad on the mild side, but i'm not about to have a very good friend slated anymore)

To scrap the car over a fuelling issue (which is what the MAIN issue is) is utter madness!!!
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Theres a carb for sale on ebay. Im sure its worth more in one piece as 1.6 spares are not much called for.

I'm confident that the carb issues could be sorted by taking it to a mechanic who knows what they are doing (sadly getting rarer nowadays). If there are other faults with it why not let us know what they are as they may be simple fixes.

I have not once said mick has sold me a dog

The car has been to two garages

I do no know who you think you are and to tell me what is wrong with my car and what to do with my money

I have been ever so polite to mick and have always said I do not expect the car to be great , 21 year old French cars never will be .

I have spent a lot of time and money getting it right

So before you get on your high horse , keep it off the forum

Thanks

We know Mick & we know our cars, i'd suggest you don't use those garages that seem to have identified faults, which lets face it, thats what they are in business to do. If i took my TXD to a garage, i'm sure they could find all manner of faults that they'd love to fix for a tidy sum. It's your car to do with as you please, but i think the opening statement "Bought this not long ago but the car is riddled with mechanical problems" has wound someone up. I personally worked on this car recently myself & did a full lhm change & just find it all a bit odd tbh.

Anyway, best of luck with stripping the car & selling the parts.
