Mk 1 front wings on a mk 2

Post by BX Bandit »

I believe they are not a straight swap I'm led to believe but does anyone know what's involved if I chose to fit mk1 wings to my mk 2?

i cant see why they shouldn't fit straight on, but you will need MK1 indicators as well

I can't see any differences on Cit Service website, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it's not straight forward. Hmmm....

/\ Why is that Mothman? Are there subtle differences? Or you mean it'll just 'look' odd? Besides, I'll be fitting the 16v bumpers

thr bottom lip is different on Mk1 wings. So making a valver bumper fit wuold involve a tiny bit of filling on the wing, unless you're happy with a slightly wider gap than you'd have against a Mk2 wing. Albeit we're talking about 1 or 2MM I think.
You'll also need to chop the front end of the bottom lip off and add the litle tab that Mk2 wings have where they bolt to the cross member. Easy enough to do, if thats your bag..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

The little tab that bolts onto the other little tab that has the threaded-return-in-a-springy-tab-nut-type-thing that always spins and doesn't come undone and then the two little tabs rust and disintegrate? That little tab?
Chop the front end of the lip off? You got me on that one. I take it you can't see it once fitted?
Yeah I got a hankering for the mk1 style indicators. I think the later ones look washed out and, well, a bit vague. Besides, in fitting mk 1 wings, with a short nose bonnet and valver bumper is sooooo BX sport darling, looks cool I rekon.
Just need cheap front mk 1 wings.

p.s. I have new family member. Not another dog, but we took in a stray on her last legs thinking she'll die peacefully in her sleep - at least warm with a fully belly. One year later and the darn thing is a PITA and just cost £85 at the vets.....:-(
