If that's the case, that would certainly put me off doing the swap.

I thought the TD clutch had stronger springs to account for the added torque?
I have zero patience for your tedium.

What, all 1lbft of it? :)

TD brings it in a bit lower, so if anything it'd need a harder-core friction lining, or better yet a bigger diameter if it needed to be any stronger. But with the expected use of a 16v being a bit more brutal, I'd expect that to have the stronger clutch. If they were different anyway

Different clutch plate, but the mech is the same.
I must confess I thought it would of been the mech that's different, to give not necessarily a stronger clutch (as kitch says there's 1lb ft in it) but to give a faster gear change.
Not sure how the plate is different

Clutch plate could be different between brands rather than design. They both use the same part numbers, as long as they're BE3.

Citroen list the plate as different part numbers but doesn't differentiate between be1 or be3 boxes. I wonder why they use a different part number? Were all oe clutches Valeo?

Citroen list different numbers because they were different!
Not very different, but yeah, slightly more meat on the friction faces is all
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Try this simple list of part numbers to see the differences between cross over parts.

NB only covers diesel and 16v.

Supercessions, that's all. Part numbers change when OE suppliers changed, or when they changed the format of the numbers. Things like that.

Ford are the worst. They change FINIS codes every 6 months on some bits. Total PITA.
