How do you remove a pedal box?
I'm stuck, I can't figure out how to remove the pedal box and instructions online that I've found are less than useless.
I've got this far.
Do I need to undo these allen bolts?
How do I disconnect the pedals? I've never had to remove a pedal box before and while I'll normally just have a go, I'm stuck with this job.

Re: How do you remove a pedal box?
there are 4 fasteners holding it in, 2 nuts hold the back plate to the floor pan and 2 allen head bolts at the top that you can see in the pic just above the springs, you will also need to disconnect the throttle cable and clutch cable and brake switch wiring, bolts are locktitened so will be stiff, i found it a lot easier to access if you remove the front seat. also looks as if yr throttle pedal housing has cracked as they all do. good luck.

WHS. Clutch cable is under a rubber cover in the engine bay secured by 4 screws - can't remember what access is like on the NA diesels but it may be easier to unhook it there before removing the pedal box.

Happily, I got the pedal box out today. I'll update properly in a tick.

Re: How do you remove a pedal box?
Overnight soak with WD40 and some pre-emptive hammer blows got those allen bolts free, they were super easy to remove today. Just as well I've got someone willing to repair the pedal box, it's probably the worst I've seen, having seen pictures of a few online to try and figure out how to get the box out. Some extra bracing will be added.

That certainly explains things! Without another NA diesel to try it against, I couldn't tell if it was pulling as well as it should or not. By the time the poor driver had been mashing the pedal down for a few hours, it obviously got a lot worse!

I'd imagine if it was that bad at the start of the journey if would have been extremely evident and he wouldn't have set out.Dollywobbler wrote:By the time the poor driver had been mashing the pedal down for a few hours, it obviously got a lot worse!
