Spaced

Series 1 episode 7 has a white BX and an XM,

Series 2 episode 1 has Daisy getting out of a white BX estate.

Is anyone else a fan of this great (IMO) tragi-comedy on the awfulness and anomie of urban life in the early 21st century?

I watched the first couple of episodes, didn't like it.

It just reminded me of why I moved out of London, I don't need to be reminded about the place.

Havent seen it all yet. Simon Pegg is very talented, I've seen a clip from it which looked funny....where they all pretended to be shooting at each other with invisible guns

Yeah I watched that episode last night and was rolling around the floor.

I like it so much cause I recognise all those characters - the aging rock-chick landlady, the asocial flatmate who spends 18 hours in a row playing Tombraider, the mad crap artist. I lived with them all in Camden so I suppose it's part of my own internal landscape. And I remember the crap jobs, limited horizons, bullshit.....I suppose I find it funny because I'm well out of now.

Shaun of the Dead is also hilarious, on many levels.

They only made two series so far. SOTD is almost the feature film of the sitcom - lots of overlap.

The second series is less satisfying. I think they had got to like their characters too much and weren't as cruel to them. There's also much more light and outdoor activity instead of the subterranean murk in the first series. The film and sci-fi references become too obvious as well, and almost become more important than the drama.

Some very episodes and scenes though. I shall be making SWMBO watch it as part of her cultural integration programme - just so that she doesn't think I've always been a petit-bourgeois with a garden and English Heritage membership :D

If a hydropneumatic Cit had appeared in Shaun of the Dead I suspect it would've been used as a form of novel anti-zombie weapon. Did Spaced ever use the BX or CX to pull a gag about social situations and sunken suspension?

Some while back a Sunday paper ran a pre-Xantia piece on Citroen ettiquette along the following lines:

Do you say your farewells to your houseguests

(a) Before the car has raised itself
(b) During the raising procedure
(c) Once the car has raised itself and you CAN be damn sure they're finally going...
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.
