Retro Rides (South Yorkshire) - 1st July - NEW VENUE, M1 J35

Post by vulgalour »

The old thread is over here

Next Meet - Monday 1st of July

This is the second meet at our NEW location. Be sure to go here and not to the old location.

Where
Just off J35 of the M1

Meadow Farm
Nether Lane
Ecclesfield
Sheffield
S35 9ZX

Their website: http://www.meadowfarmpub.co.uk/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When
From 7pm on the first Monday of the month. Next meet on the 1st of July.

What
Pre-2000 cars from stock to modified.

The Big Don'ts
Pot smoking
Anti-social behaviour, especially burnouts, drifting and excessively loud stereos
Littering

The Please Do List
Be awesome to each other
Enjoy the cars on show
Enjoy the food and drink available at Meadow Farm (and the warm when it's cold outside)

This is intended to be a fresh start for the Retro Rides South Yorkshire Meet and reboot it as a family friendly event where we can meet and talk cars, admire each others work and get ideas. Or just meet up with mates and a enjoy some food and drink with a decent backdrop of cars.

Anyone choosing to continue to meet at Meadowhall Retail Park does so at their own risk. Take this message as being an official cut with that event as having anything to do with Retro Rides.

Let's make this excellent together.

If you've any questions, feel free to leave a comment here.

Finally, have some pictures from previous meets and the sorts of things you're likely to see.

Looks interesting and only just up the road from me - I might jolly along and have a 'butchers'.

Nice SD1 there Tim - a few ideas maybe on how you might 'pimp' yours up a bit!?
'burnouts, doughnuts and nobbery'
In a BX 17TGD? I think not! #-o

Too far for a school night, shame - I was just saying yesterday how much I enjoyed expanding my horizons with not-Citroens at an event last year. Do RR run any events south east? - if so, I'll trot along to the blue forum and have a look :)

You realise that some of the cars there will be 1) not French and 2) modified? Take along plenty of coffee tables and nails.

Sandre, there are regular retro ride meets at the ace cafe on the north circular road near Wembley IIRC, might be easier for you to get to

As MT says, there are Retro Rides meets all over the country, this just happens to be the one I took over organising a while ago. Sometimes, we get a good chunk of PSA stuff turn up but Citroens are thin on the ground though there has been a very nice 2CV in burgundy and cream and there's usually a lovely dark green ZX that's a regular attendee. It's a proper mixed bag meet, the emphasis being that cars are modified and/or retro in flavour. We get moderns, classics, we've had hot rods and even silly off road things turn up as well as drag strip cars and the ubiquitous Max Power types.

You never know what's going to turn up from one meet to the next, and I really like that aspect. It's rare that there's a month where something new and interesting doesn't appear and I think a flock of BXs would be superb to see, even if it were only a small flock.

The meet happens at the same location on the first Monday of every month, unless otherwise stated.

Sounds good and not too far from me, especially if Paul provides accommodation [-o< .
I'll bring along the XM. A 2.1 td auto, certainly, absolutely, definitely no chance of a burnout or a doughnut!!

p.s. that's if the darn thing is working correctly for more than a few hours!! Bloody French tin!!

No problem. Oh I'm sure something will 'burn out' Mark. In which case a jammy, sugary doughnut will stop it seeming like quite such a tragedy! 8)

Looks like it could be good, what time do people normally start turning up at ? Would probably have to get there before 7 to make it worth the drive

So *you'll* be the one repenting then?

I think I know the meet you mean Mick - Ace café? In which case, North Circular + Hangar Lane means it would probably be quicker to drive up to Sheffield ...
