I've merged the 3 threads now - if you want to post up more pictures in this thread of rust and your repairs we'd be interested!

The first set of pictures are quite worrying as these are areas not normally known for rust and are in very awkward areas which are rusting from the inside of the cavities.

..that_

All I can think of there is a problem with a dain tube from the sunroof? Glad I don't have one of those, mine's rusty enough as it is!

Once you start cutting that's going to turn into a major job I think. Pity Red Shed has gone as I'd be inclined to line up a pillar from a scrapper, either to cut repair sections from or to use as a complete replacement section, depending how bad the hidden rust is.

yes i have never seen rust this bad in these areas, it seems that whole rear 1/4 has suffered quite badly, i guess it was prob caused by a blocked drain tube on the n/s/r, as i have repaired/welded the boot floor hanger area and the sill inner and outer and chassis rail, and axle mounting on that side when i first got it 7 yrs ago, unfortunately the car spent its first 15yrs of life living outside on the south coast and had a lot of rust issues then, tho all repaired and still holding out well i think this is terminal as the more i strip it back the further it has spread .

stripped out the rear 1/4 panel today to have a closer look at rust issues, not much evident inside the rear 1/4 all looks pretty good and solid, the main issue is with the pillar, more pics after tapping the rust bubbles to see what the damage is, its at this point i will have to question the structual integrity of the car, i personally think its gone too far and wouldn't be a viable repair, its had a lot of extensive welding in the past but at what point do u draw the line, your thoughts.

At the point at which the pleasure you'd get from it being fixed is outweighed by the time/money you'd spend on it, simple as that.
