i will be fitting a new cd player and amp into the tzd in place of the original blaupunkt unit, i will need a switched live supply for the head unit and the and amp remote, there is no real power drain as the supply is only to switch relays, where would be the best place to tap into a switched live supply and the most accessible?

I ran a wire down from the digital clock - it's reasonably close and I also spliced into the wire which dims the clock when the lights are on. That way the illumination on the stereo comes on with the sidelights even when it's turned off.

Alternatively you can do what I did with Timex and come off the back of the dash light dimmer - just make sure you come off the correct side of it!

i have a problem using the clock live supply as the tray has been broken at some point and has been glued in all the way round with "bastard glue" so it wont come out, i will do as mike says and tap off the 12v supply for the dimmer, thanx all for yr help.

Brake light switch feed? That's where I usually take feeds for switched feed relay circuits on bikes.
