Free - Scrap J-Reg 1.9 TGD BX Diesel Estate

Post by Stuarted »

Flood-damaged car off to the scrapyard in the next week or so. Was good runner in everyday use until it floated away - up to its headlights in water - last November. Will be going for scrap in next neek or so. All parts available (come and help yourself) except for
- engine (flooded and therefore u/s)
- internal trim, carpets and (probably) seats and most electrics (flood damaged)
and except for the following almost-new items which I will remove and keep:
- hydraulic pump
- hydraulic control unit
- alternator
- battery
- steering lock and door locks
- 2 new and 2 almost new tyres
- towbar

Body colour: metallic dark grey with blue tinge (anyone know what the official name is for this is? Looked quite good.)

If you want any remaining bits, contact me (by PM or by posting here) quickly. Frankly, there won't be much left over that's any use to anyone but it seems a shame to scrap it completely without letting BX Club owners know.

Sorry, forgot to state: location Hereford city (postcode HR4)

For the geographically challenged, Herefordshire is on the borders of Wales: west of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, south of Shropshire and north of Gwent (Monmouthshire).

The car is at a local workshop, not at my home, thus the need to shift it (or the remains of it) fairly soon.

And I may strip the reasonably good exhaust system off as well. Oh, and the rear screen washer ... and possibly the suspension spheres ... and the lid off the glove box ... like I said, if you want anything, you'd better be quick.

If it's Gris Meteor (code EYY) I'll happily take the bonnet and tailgate if they're in good nick - the lacquer's knackered on mine. Would also take bumpers and some other bits. Only trouble is I can't get down to pick them up any time soon...

Please excuse my ignorance - is 'Gris Meteor' a colour? Perhaps it would have been helpful if I had stated the VIN.

VIN = VF7XBXF0013XF3973

Engine number = 620581

You're welcome to the bits but the bonnet has a (repaired) slight crack in the centre of the nose. Tailgate (as far as I know) OK. If you're going to take the tailgate I might wish to salvage the glass (because all the heater elements work!) and the wiper motor - or have yours in exchange.

If I remember to do so, when I scrap the car I will post the contact details of the scrapyard on here. They are actually a good helpful bunch and don't usually charge ripoff prices.

Yes, Gris Meteor is a colour! Paint code is to be found stencilled on the left (from driver's perspective) inner wing, just in front of the strut top. If it says EYY it's GRis Meteor.
No problem to swap glass/wiper motor with mine - rear glass is bonded in so too much of a pain to remove and then replace.

Old car is away at workshop - will check later wen I'm passing by.

Just to make sure: my new car (dark blue) has a code ENUMR stencilled in large white letters on forward side of top of inner wheel arch. Is this the number I should be checking please?

Have now checked. Yes, my car is 'Gris Meteor'. Code is EYYMR.

If you are able to come and get the parts, it might be as well to bring your old parts and swap them. Scrappy might be a bit reluctant to pay me for a car with half the body missing! However don't worry if you can't come immediately; I'm sure the scrappy would sell you the bits quite reasonably if he has taken my car in by then.

OK - ot definitely won't be imminent. I'm in France and unlikely to be back in UK with car for at least a month. I guess scrappy's decision woul dbe based one whether he's just going to crush it or whether he's going to break it. If the former, then he won't mind not having the plastic/GRP bonnet and tailgfate!

needing parts and affording to get to Hereford are two very different propositions for me at the moment :( Had I been somewhat more solvent, I would certainly have had some parts from you. However, I do happily have a back up plan in Lincolnshire that's on hold at the moment.
