WTF BX 16TRS SOLD

Post by Tim Leech »

My 1989 BX 16TRS hatch in Gorgeous Olympic Blue with Upgraded Grey Zenith Interior with front and rear headrests, 1 touch window, CD Radio, eleccy windows and roof, remote locking etc.

Very well known in the club

45000 miles, full Citroen/specialist history until I got it then its been serviced by me using genuine parts, lots of receipts, mudflaps x 4, rubber mats, headlamp protectors, sunroof defector .

Body is fabulous! No dents, a few small chips

No rust I know of (A posts, boot floor etc all spot on)

Suspensions lovely (front sticks if not used for a while but soon lifts, arm bearings fine. )

4 brand new Dunlop 185/60 on tidy 16v alloys (cost £160)

MOT October

Spheres/Cambelt done less than 4000 miles ago.

Must be sold to caring owner with a garage and wants a "show BX", its FAR too nice to be used and abused in all weathers.

Engine and box all in good condition, had a replacement carb 2 years ago which works fine but can flood if switched off before it warms up (theres a nack)

Car will be a X Rally for inspection.

I want £2000 for it, which may be a big ask for a 1.6 but this is probably the nicest one available anywhere.

Very Reluctant Sale, but things change.

This is one the most beautiful BXs in the UK. Why on earth are you selling it?! Wish I had a barn...

Ive been doing the BX thing now for about 8 years, I still love them but WTF is pretty much as good as I can get it so would like a bit of scope to do other things and also have more space.

As its such a lovely example I hope that maybe someone will step forward.

If I had a barn and plenty of spare cash then I would of course just keep it.

In an ideal world I would have more time but I dont, so it's time to downzise the fleet to 3 or 4.

Understandable, 5 BX's and a SD1 is a major upkeep for someone with zillions of time and dollars never mind someone working full time with a mulititude of other commitments. I can understand yur choice of car too as once they are as good as they get they do loose their tinkering fun value. Just wheeling out, washing & polishing is ok probably more suited to the older retired enthusiasts than one who is full on in the passion. Good luck with the sale mate and 2k isn't a big ask for any fully sorted car without issues.

There is of course another solution to your fleet reduction conundrum........................................ I'm sure I could find room for a nice SD1 in my collection

Thanks Kevan

The Sd1 has been with me for nearly 16 years which is an awfully long time, I have neglected it badly in the past few years, not condition wise as its great but its gone for months without being used whilst I plough money into BX's. If the TRS does sell one of the first things I will do is retax the Rover and do those few small jobs it needs.

I wont ebay it as I want to have some control over who buys it, so will probably stick to the CCC and this forum, she ins't perfect, the front fogs dont work as do the headlamps washers, the paint on the speedlines could be better and the washer pipe has been bypassed from the washer spindle as it was rusted up but the motor itself has no wear, however next year its 25 years old and probably the best Mk2 BX around condition wise.

I would in fact consider payment via PayPal so a credit card could be used or even a part ex if its something old and interesting.

Fantastic car but I think sometimes a car can be too nice! It becomes too much of a worry to use and yet without use there is less enjoyment, I aim to get my cars to a good standard but not too good so that I fret over them. All of mine are daily users when they are roadworthy.

Good luck with the sale.

It looks great Tim. Hope you get the right person for it.

Anyone who wishes they had a barn - it can easily become a problem unless you've got real self-control. Mine has become a hoarders hellhole! When I lived in London I got by with one bicycle and no car and since I've had the space I've filled my life up with so much unnecessary tin and junk! How many cars does a man need?? :? ( wrong place to ask such a question) Call me hypocrite - it's like a disease!
