Dreaded octopus questions

I know there are a few octopus threads already but I'm still confused!

Does the pic below show this: Oil Back Harness 96 030 258 which is also called the "small" octopus?



And...from these pics of the 92 TZD, is this what has had a hack job attempted on it?















If this is the correct part, am I to believe its no longer available? I wonder if my local Citroen dealer would be able to check for availability in France.

That is the main octopus in your picture. The two pipes you are holding should be attached to it.

About two years ago both octopuses were still available from Citroen. If not now then try the Chevronic centre in Hitchin.

a customer of mine has just last week bought two octapussy's from citroen, you need to give them the part No. though,

here is price and part No. and i dose not state NFP

you have to look under brake return piping to find it on service citroen,

Malcolm, is this the part number for just the main octopus? Do you know the part number for the smaller octopus? What is the function of the smaller octopus? Does it return fluid for the power steering or something like that?

i have never really been sure what everyone calls the small octapussy

but as far as im aware there is only one other return pipe with branch's from it,

which is at the hydraulic tank

Malcolm, I'm starting to doubt myself but I'm nearly 100% certain I gave him the no. for the main octopus, 96030258. When he said €17 plus vat I was surprised but didn't question it in case he decided to charge a bit extra! The only thing that could have happened is that he said €70 and picked it up wrong. Which now makes alot more sense as £59 = €70. Either way, I should know Friday as he said it'd be in then. pm replied.

Sorry for the confusion and if I got peoples hopes up, but I just confirmed the price with Citroen and he said €61 + vat = €75 So the outcome is, I need to get my hearing checked!
