Sunroof relay

Post by puddock »

Hi, does anyone have a spare sunroof relay they could sell me? My sunroof only opens when it wants to, which makes me think its more a relay problem than the motor.

have you checked the switch isn't goosed - I've had this on an XM where a new switch cured the fault.

before u go replacing anything i would suggest removing the tilt/slide switch and give it a good clean out these are prone to dirty contacts inside the switch housing itself, also a good idea to lube the slide channels of the sunroof as these can become dry and full of crap and cause the sunroof to jam/stick.

..that_
When I first got the valver the sunroof mechanism was very 'notchy', but after several liberal doses of WD-40 and a clean rag it's now as smooth as the proverbial baby's backside.

I vote dirty switch too. If it's not responding, then it's nowt to do with the runners. The TXD was quite bad for this but did improve (a bit) after I cleaned the switch up a bit.

if u do find the switch is buggered another option (which im sure ive seen done before) is to use a rear electric window switch and mount it in the centre console by the handbrake in one of the spare cut outs, just a matter of relaying the wires from the sunroof switch to the console. looks pretty neat too, that way you can leave the original switch in situ and nothing looks too outta place.
