Fuel tank sender

Fuel tank sender intermittent prob, anything over 1/4 tank registers ok, under that needle flicks up/down??

Does the yellow fuel light work? Have you tried using the trip to calculate your mileage, mine comes on around the 600 mile mark & i know that i can get another 100 miles out of the tank once the amber light has flicked on & off before its permanently on. If the guages is flicking i wouldn't worry, mine does this just before the amber light starts to flicker as well, i ignore it & concentrate on the trip mileage instead.

Take the sender out (its under the left round plastic cover under the right seat), slide the aluminum housig off (carfully!), and clean the lower part of the "core". You can test it sliding the floater up and down, the needle should follow..

Way easier solution: refuel when 1/4 is reached! :)

I suspect that any attempt at cleaning it will result in delamination of the 'pcb'. Once they start to fail they are generally fubar. Used units come up on eBay now and again but for the price people want you may as well not bother.
