LHM light slow to go off - now slow to rise

Post by Willy »

So since I bought the car a few months ago, the LHM and therefore stop light have always been slow to turn off - about five to ten seconds from the engine catching. This morning this extended to maybe a minute or two, and the car didn't rise until the light had gone out. Hadn't driven the car for a few days, but I've left it longer before and it's been fine.

It does leak like Julian Assange - from pump and pressure regulator I think, although it's hard to tell as everything's still a mess from Vince's LHM explosion (Citroen innuendo...). However, the gauge still reads "max" whenever I check (engine on, cool lever at its highest position) - even checked visually this morning and the level looked fine :?

Not the end of the world but a bit of a predicament.

if there's hulio/citro blood around the pump maybe the pump belt needs tightening, these belts need to be very tight

The belt is slack but does not squeal like my old BX's pump did. How would this cause leakage? :?:

no no
not the cause of the leak but the slow to get her up,

just try tightening the belt as its the easiest thing to do first,

the leak can also cause the belt to slip,

whilst my TZD was sitting around on SORN around 5 or 6 years,

i needed to move her about from one place to another and maybe back again,

every time i started her up she would take quite some time to get up of her aris,

when i got round to checking her out to put her back into service, i found the crank case breather pipe had been cut through by the pump pulley, this had plastered the pimp pulley and belt in an oily residue, so the belt had a job gripping the pulley,

easy fix a short length of 3/4 copper water pipe to re/join the cut away section of breather pipe, new pump belt and bongo,

she got up as she should
