Inhibitor Switch

Post by Way2go »

There seems to be no coverage whatsoever of the Auto Inhibitor Switch of the BX in Haynes. So some questions of the enlightened here:

Is this located on top of the autobox below the front of the battery or is there a switch below the selector in the car?

Is this combined with a reversing light switch or separate?

If it's on the box, can it be changed without draining fluid first?

Does anyone have a part number, price and drawing? (Citronut?)

Mine is occasionally playing up but can be teased back into action at present by jiggling the selector pawl. [-o<

yes that is the reverse light/lockout switch combined, but i must admit that i have never removed one, i only know this as i converted my tgd from auto to manual, i seem to recall that the two green wires?? are the reverse lights but easy enough to check, you can bypass it a temp fix. im sure its a fairly shared part fitting many other cit/pug autos.

:) I've trawled a bit of the net myself looking for someone who's done it or knowledgeable on the subject but there does seem to be a lack of it with many giving bum advice. I had found references myself on HonestJohn, how about this one that turns into a bit of a bun-fight!

Hi Vince, yes I'm pretty sure it is where I posted above, located on top of the autobox below the front of the battery. Next stage is to to have a prod & clean up connections first (wishful thinking) but I also need to find a source of the switch too just in case.
