Hydraulic pump belt for a Mk 2 16v

Post by Vince Pepper »

The belt on the hydraulic pump snapped yesterday on my 1989 Mk2 16v, I have been through the many spares that I have accumulated and found a similar belt in original Citroen cardboard with the part number 96 035 624, does anyone know if this is the belt in question, thanks in advance [-o<

I have managed to retrieve the old belt from deep in the engine bay, lucky really as I thought it had dropped onto the road when it broke, it is the correct belt as it has identical markings and numbers as the old somewhat perished one.

Are these not available from anyone? Bit worrying if not - I shall add it to the stockpile list...

I'd be certain they would be, although in the future you may have to give them the dimensions of the belt rather than looking it up in a parts catalogue.

Yes, logical thinking there Mat.

Unlike me, I just panic and post what I'm thinking straight away...

 It's good to have a spare one though. Ideally in the car, as it's a potential single point of failure for several systems.

Still available as a 'Gates' belt at my local motor factors. Bought one last year just using the reg number.

The motor factors computer/fiche lists it as a 'suspension belt'.

ECP and such seem to sell AV10 650mm belts, the correct belt is an AV10 666mm, easily available from pretty much anywhere that sells belts..

according to Citroen website, it is the correct part number you've listed for cars made since rp04224. It's length is 650mm
