Leaks

Have a leak into the rear offside passenger footwell.
Any common places to look, before I get my hosepipe out?
Can't see anything obviously amiss.

Door rubber, or the rear drain tubes are blocked & the water fills up & runs over the side, put your hand on the inside of the roof liner near to the door frame & check for dampness.

If you have a rust hole under the windscreen washer bottle, large amounts of water can get in and under the carpet and will eventually make its way to the lowest point - ie: the offside passenger footwell.

Check if the rubber bungs under the car are all intact, I have a perished one and causes an occasional damp carpet.

Could be the front door seal. Timex used to dribble water in via the seal into the rear footwell via the front door - took me a while to find that one!

A good test is after lots of rain, open the door and inspect the seal. It should be dry along the upper edge - if it isn't, water has been getting into the car that way. The seals do tire with age.

Where do I look for these rear drain tubes?, there is a small puddle on the plastic moulding around the base of the seat by the sill, but nothing further up by the roof.

Remove the rear light pods and you'll see the (dirty) clear rubber tubes running down behind them, carefully pull them out upwards through the lamp orifice and blow up them with compressed air with the sunroof open. (can easily be done on a filling station forecourt as the lamps just pop-out and push back.)

A good tip is not to put it back in the 'D' pillar but leave it protruding out and place it inside the rear lamp module where it will sit directly above the rear lamp drain as shown in this picture. This then allows the water to drain (not into the lamp) directly onto the plastic bumper then the road instead of into the rear crossmember. IMHO if they had been routed this way from new then the rear x members / boot floors may not have rusted like they do.

I'm not sure that would cause a puddle on the plastic trim between the rear seat and the door though - my money would be on the door seal. If you sit and watch you may see the occasional drip forming. I've had leakage there this year which so far has been cured by cleaning up the sealing surface on the door as it was covered in pine needles!

Thanks for the replys and brilliant pictures!
Further investigation and drying out session revealed that under the back seat was swimming!
Wasn't like that last weekend when I had the seat flat, but we have had really heavy rain.

I will try blowing through the tubes and see how I get on from there.
Car currently has a dehumidifier in the back and rear carpet pulled up.
