I've been in contact with Noel O'Dwyer about the All Ireland Rally, which is taking place at Clonmel, in the south of Tipperary. Saturday will be visiting local places, including a car museum, and Sunday will be a drive out. He sent me the following links as a taster:

http://www.clogheen.net/see-do/the-vee/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.southeastireland.com/plismor ... oTp3HA7KSo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is a bit further south than I was expecting, so what I think I may do is reverse a chunk of the route so that we don't end up covering the same area too many times - watch this space!

Lana has family just outside Cahir, near Clonmel so I'm hopeful to convince her to come along to this one. I think I'd probably just have to stick to the Welsh part if I was doing it solo, mainly due to the costs but if there was a family visit involved... :-k

It's a shame she works as a contractor, as there is obviously a big financial incentive not to take holidays!

I'll probably sail from Heysham ( it's only 5 miles from my house ), so I'll make plans to meet up with everyone else on the Emerald Isle.

Mat - I've been there, done that with the contracting - before I went to Holland for the H van 50th anniversary camp and the 2cv world meeting, I worked 3 months of 7 day weeks to cover the loss of pay during the holiday.

Mark - the road links down the east are pretty good, either motorway or trunk roads which are single carriageway with hard shoulders. Most of the slower drivers tend to move onto these shoulders to let faster traffic past, making for fast, if relatively uninteresting travel. Watch out for camera vans though.

Hope so, sorry it's been quiet but work got on top of things the last few weeks. I have 3 weeks off from next week so hope to be contacting camp sites etc before the end of the month to see if we need prior bookings etc.

Plan at the moment is to cross to Ireland on the 24th June, spend that evening at a campsite just outside of Roscrea - where I hope to pursuade my parents to sort a meal for us! Then from the 25th - 27th we'll cross to the west coast and make our way down to the south west tip before making our way east to Clonmel to join up with the CCC All Ireland Rally, which runs to the 29th. That night we can either stay at Clonmel or head back north towards Roscrea. Monday we head towards the east coast then either north or south depending on which ferry suits each participant. Myself, I'll be heading down to Rosslare to a campsite there, ready to catch the Tuesday morning ferry.

I'm in the middle of picking out camp sites for the trip - I've details of some which also have B&B facilities, I just need to check if we need to pre book. Once I've done this I'll try to post up a suggested route map.

If I've got some cash I'd like to come along. Do we need a passport for the ROI or will a photo ID driving licence suffice?

For the ferry you just need a valid photo ID (passport, driver's licence or national ID card). Some of the campsites will also need to see similar on booking in.

Right then, suddenly found some time to sort this!

Still confirming some camp site details, particularly if we ned to pre book, but here goes

24th June, cross over from Holyhead to Dublin (or another route if it's easier for you), then drive to Roscrea where we will stay at Streamstown Caravan and Camping park. The parents are a few miles up the road ad have offered to put on a BBQ / Dinner depending on weather. Distance 81 or 98 miles depending on if you want the direct route or not.

25th Roscrea to Dingle to stay at the Rainbow Hostel & Camping - I've worked out a route that has some interesting roads at a distance of 184 miles, but that can be cut shorter.

26th - Dingle to the Creveen Lodge caravan park (assuming I can get hold of them to check!) on the Ring of Beara, this is a few miles up the road from Kieran's place so you know there's Citroens in them there hills! Again, some interesting roads, at 151 miles.

27th - Ring of Beara to Clonmel to attent the All Ireland Rally> there are 2 or 3 camp sites in the area (I've not decided which to go for yet), or the Hotel the event is based at, although I've been warned that places are filling fast! There's a few roads that look interesting, and taking them all will cover 181 miles, although once again we can cut that short if needed.

28th & 29th will be at Clonmel meeting up with a load of Irish Citroenists unless we get bored and decide to do something else.

30th - Clonmel to Ladies Island, near Rosselare. The direct route is 74 miles, but if there are people opting to head back via Dublin, we could head up to Kilkenny, then to the Wicklow mountains, where we would head our separate ways north and south. I'm guessing about 90 miles to Dublin, or 186 to Ladies Island

1st July, early start to catch the 8am Ferry (at the port 7:30 at latest), although it's only a few miles, back to Pembroke and then home.

Hilary has very kindly produced a couple of options for sticker sets, which 1 will try to pick one of out of the very good options he sent me yesterday. He has also offered to look up alternative indoor accomodation at our night stops (I'll add more detailed locations in the next day or so) so a big thanks for his help.

I'm trying to add a few days in Wales to the front of this, hopefully meeting up somewhere near Tewkesbury on the Saturday, then exploring our way up to Anglesey by Monday evening, but I'm still working on this (any suggestions greatfully accepted)

I'll also check on ferry prices and post them up in the next day or so.

To get firm answers to my queries to the various camp sites, I need an idea of who's going, and for how much of it, so I'll kick off the list:
