I really think you will regret it, but needs must sometimes, lets hope she finds a sympathetic home.

Its a shame you could not offer it here first to actual BX'ers but we all know the draw of the possibility of e-bay bidding wars i suppose :)

Looks lovely and a good advert , you should make a few quid on that!

For anyone thinking of buying it Mk1 and Mk2 door are interchangeable but its a different shde of red from the more common venetian.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Tim, he's ready for the road and has been happiy eating up the miles recently! Long MOT and loads of work done to save this BX which is in fantastic condition.

Stinkwheel, I will regret it, I'm sure of it but as you say needs must. I was thinking of offering them both here first but I knew I'd have to explain thst I was out of work and find the vultures circling offering me low figures due to my new circumstances! Or, I could have omitted the reason for the sale, but I don't like doing that sort of thing if I can help it. So they went on eBay so they could fetch their market value and I could post on here the truth... it seemed to take the pressure off me.

Both BXs are for sale having significantly better futures after all the work has been done on them and they have passed through my hands and now leave with long MOTs and plenty of work done.

Although not technically unemployed, my regular contract that I've been working for for years unexpectedly(ish) came to an end so I'll have to travel for work a lot more.

Although, as we all know, the BX's will do this job well: the little red friend is coming with me to Stansted this weekend :) but he shouldn't really be used all the time like this because he really is rare and in great condition from his cossetted life in the garage.

Bluey would have happily hauled me around the continent but it came down to whether he goes or the Volvo 480... it was a hard choice but I guess I have a bit more affection for the 480 for long distance stuff, and I've never been without one for ten years.

The 480 isn't MOTd at the minute (a first, showing how much I've been enjoying these BXs!) so the money from the BX sale will MOT and tax it. Then I'll be ready to be a proper Connie in the new year and travel a bit more.

Here are a few more pictures including all the ones I took under the car this morning at Pleiades. Martin at Pleiades and Rob at The Chevronic Centre were well impressed with the car.

Points to note on the underneath pics are that the pipes have no rust (prone on 14s in the last picture as the fuel tank is smaller and leaves the pipes exposed) and the subframes are perfect.

James,

totally understand your reasoning behind it all, a real shame, but we have to deal with life before luxuries.

I wish you best of luck with the sale of both cars and best of luck with the job situation.

Thank you Matt and for your help with the vacuum advance unit.

On the plus side I'm looking forward to getting the 480 back on the road once these are off to pastures new.

I'm baffled by capitalism as I expected my hand to be bitten off for this beauty and Bluey to struggle to sell. In end, the opposite happened.

I'm going to keep my little red friend for a bit longer it seems. I can do a few jobs on him like restore the bumper colour and sort out the windows while I'm off work. It looks like he's going to be taking me up to Newcastle over Christmas too!

I will re-list in the new year with (hopefully) a few of the jobs done. It definitely too close to Christmas to be re-listing and selling cars!

It's possible that people were put off by the suitcase engine, as the TU is generally regarded as the better engine.

Still, nice car, and hopefully after you've done some more little jobs on it you'll get a sale

Also possible that some of us are still kicking ourselves for not being quick enough when it initially came up for sale!
