Thanks
So do I am pretty nervous will have a 60 mile trip home with it with every digit crossed mileage isn't too bad for those lumps I'm pretty sure its more or less the same as my pug 306 which is my daily driver which has prettymuch the same mileage, although I'm buying it to use it will slowly bring it back to best but it will still have to work for a living lol
Will probably be on the parts pages with wish lists shortly

I like basic BX as other than a total hydraulic issue, spare bottles of LHM at the ready, they normally limp home, unlike many cars. Well done for taking the calculated risk. Sounds like a BXer selling.

Home and well and nice old motor .... From a forum member :D
Only issue is light stalk doesn't like clicking back from high beam and main light warning light on dash keeps disappearing?
Stopped and checked all were on but typically not only were they on but when I got back in dash main beam light was working again! Murphys law? Lol
Am guessing its the stalk but anyone had this before know any different?
Thanks

Hi Lee, glad you had a better trip back than down here.

Sorry, forgot about the beam indicator light, comes and goes but as you say the actual headlights are on all the time. Hadn't noticed the stalk return problem.
Another mystery you need to know (forgot as only occurred when I went away and left the car so rarely occurred as it was my main driver) There is a small electrical drain somewhere. If the car is driven regularly (say at least once every 10 days) it is fine but if left over 2 to 3 weeks it will take the battery down. I just used to pull the leads off if leaving it for several weeks.
I checked the boot light wasn't staying on, the courtesy lights weren't staying on etc. Someone said it might be the clock (That is the 3rd clock fitted but has been there for some years now) I think the clock dimmer is fuse 13.
I got it checked out and the guy said it was on fuse 5 (but I think that is the hazards)
The only other thing I can think that was fitted after I bought it was the radio/CD which I assumed (maybe wrongly) was connected to the original power supply (fuse 7?)

I think that battery is about 3 years old and it has gone down twice in that time - but only because I didn't pull the leads when we went to the US for a month and somewhere else for 3 weeks.

The obvious solution is to keep driving it!!!!

Cheers

Peter

A radio fitted without isolation can do that. So can an alarm out of use. Think Miguel has this issue.

I have serviced a light stalk that was not working freely. Took it off and obviously cleaned up what I could get at. I then sparingly used graphite oil and got it moving subtly. The theory being that a build up of excess lubricant will transmit electricity rather than isolate the contacts. Clearly we are talking minor build up of excess, not such that it shorts! No probs since remounted. I put it down to lack of use and storage in perhaps not the best conditions.
I keep thinking I have cleaned all electrical joints but then another goes intermittent or off.

Thanks HZman For the heads up will keep an eye on it ...I think you are right about stereo I had this issue a few years back with an older stereo however I will be using her more or less daily so should not be an issue :-)
Also thanks threadbear all good advice have also put this on technical thread and have loads of suggestions so should be sorted will begin on this as soon as I get the pug 306 through MOT ...was supposed to be for me and BX for other half as she does a lot less mileage......but that's not going to happen now! I'm back in love with BX's so she's getting the pug lol
