faulty temp gauge or sender?

Post by rutter123 »

engine cold, ignition on, temp gauge goes straight to 60ish which appears to its starting point, during normal operating sits up near 90 tho not running hot, cooling fan working ok, so appears its general temp range is correct just in the wrong place on the gauge. faulty sender or faulty gauge?

IIRC the sender should be 130? at 100°C. Senders are not always accurate and I have a feeling that some gauges are designed to show 100°C when the coolant is about to boil - not realising that most of us can work out that coolant with sufficient antifreeze and under 10psi pressure is going to boil closer to 110°C.
