Something's not right with the TZD, not running right.

Post by Mothman »

TZD has started to hunt when idling, Brrrrm... brrrmmm....brmmmmm..... etc, just dosnt sound right. Smoking a bit more too. Is this air getting into the system? Or worse and something going wrong with the fuel pump?
Also turns off the ignition when warm but starts straight away when i restart her. Replaced battery but still happening.

Any ideas.

Sounds like air getting in the fuel line / filter housing...

My lucas pumped TZD started idling high when the filter housing started letting in air..

My N/A diesel starts fine but will chug and die after about 15 mins, then restart perfectly! Underneath the flexible parts of the fuel lines looked balloony..

Worth replacing all the fuel line really -

you can eliminate the CAV fuel filter by bypassing it my tzd turbo hasn't had one for over 100k i just use 2 simple inline filters 1 on supply and 1 on return, as /\ replace the fuel lines if they are the old steel ones as they rust internally, check all your breathers and all the intercooler hoses for splits/perishing. hopefully not your pump.
