how to with a strobe light? where are the tdc marks flywheel or crank pulley, do i need to remove cam belt covers?

Umm............Isn't this continuously calculated by the ecu from the tdc sensor and computed by demand? :wink:

The usual way is to paint a white stripe on the flywheel inside the inspection opening below the thermostat housing. TDC is marked with a line stamped in the flywheel circumference so you need to make your mark at 6deg or whatever it is before this. Then when timing is done make marks on the distributor base and mounting to prevent having to retime again after any removal.

Have you checked that the vacuum advance diaphragm is ok and working ??

i dont think the bosch jetronic has a tdc sensor, only the motronic?

vacuum advance is working ok, but this will need to be disconnected when timing up, right?

It should have a tdc sensor for injection and ignition timing is on the dissy cap iirc, cam and crank timing is done with the belt
