Hydraulic Pump Needed

A recent inspection has revealed my BX's HP pump has begun to leak substantially. Garage can order one for something like £250 but obviously that is a lot! If anyone has a spare they would be prepared to sell or knows where to get one for less I would very much appreciate the help else I will have to go with the expensive one.

Diesel. I didn't know the pump was different dependant on engine. In terms of refurbishing, where would I go to have this done?

Its a 1.7 'TXD Turbo' (As in Boxwolf's Signature)

The only one available on E-bay is from AEP (Below) but at least its NEW, O/E ones for Diesels are now on Citroen's 'NFP' lists !

IIRC didn't 'Bob' (Linegeist) have problems with the re-furbed ones from 'Pleiades' ?

I have got one you can have. It has got a slight shaft leak but is useable. Or you could have it reconned by Pleiades.

I think if you are aiming to keep the car a recon one is worth while. If its lasted 20+ years and 100+ thousand miles it should when reconditioned outlast the rest of the car!

So how would I get a recon one? I can't exactly have the current one removed to be refurbished as then I would have no transport. I'm also not all that keen on getting a recon one which then causes problems. If nobody has a good working one I'll have to go with the one from the garage which will be burning a bit of a hole in my wallet (sorry Jaba but I would be apprehensive of fitting one with any kind of leak as a replacement, thanks anyway though!)

RxBx, if the one you have is in good shape (and you do still have it) let me know on here - I won't be at home from lunchtime until thursday night and I need to contact the garage on thurs/fri to let them know whether to order the new pump.

As I'm sure I have mentioned before, I am aiming to keep the BX as long as I can keep it on the road, comfortable and (relatively) quiet. Looking for new cars is a total pain and I don't like the idea of many newer cars - too difficult to fix simple things on and questionable reliability.

Admittedly, I have been getting a bit of grief from the BX this year, and MOT time is coming up too but fingers crossed it won't cost too much...

They may have a recon ready on the shelf in which case you pay a supplement until they receive your old unit back. Or something like that.

No, he didn't. That pump in now living quite happily under the bonnet of a BX in Germany, I should know, I sold it after having tested it myself!

He sent two or three back before he got the good one.

No, he didn't send any back, Plaiedes just sent him replacements. The "worst one" he took apart, the "intermittent" one is happily goose-stepping round Schweinfurt in Deutschland and the one that made funny noises at mid-revs is still on my car and absolutely fine, always has been.

I think his technique was the issue.

Oh, and the ORIGINAL one off the car is now part of Vannys sphere tester, yes it was a LITTLE noisier than normal when I tested it but worked absolutely fine in every way.
