Its been on ebay a few times, and its been sold to a member here and then with held from the buyer!
I guess maybe this means it didn't sell on eBay after all.

Dodgier than a bunch of electric cars at the fair confined to a metal floorpan with barriers.

A genuine Bangor. Not more EBay antics! More dodgy geezers than Iceland.

Maybe there is, I don't know - anyone have any ideas? Short of going up to Valley with a trailer and taking it, which isn't really my style.Kitch wrote:There must be something you can do?!
Frankly I was in a pretty bad place mentally when I "bought" it the first time, and have regretted not doing more at the time; perhaps now I should do something. Any advice? Police? Fraud?
I have found it for sale on Pistonheads too: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... ar/2507154
I would still like to buy it...

I've no idea, police? It's probably too late to sort it now, but go on the Pistonheads forum in Speed, Plod & Law. Ask the question on there - they're pretty knowledgeable on the whole, though you will get the odd keyboard warrior. I definitely couldn't sit back and do nothing if it was me though!djoptix wrote:Maybe there is, I don't know - anyone have any ideas? Tricky. If a deposit was in place you have a clear claim. I suspect otherwise you would need to proceed through EBay, who probably are not remotely interested, as to pursue outside the auction, thus its rules do not apply, means the seller can claim the right to sell to whom he wants. I assume the Valley Villein is not talking to you so as to negotiate a deal.
Experience does suggest that vendors in the extremities of the country do seem to have a habit of relying on distance as a defense to sharp practice. Makes it all the more interesting if you do land up on their doorstep, well better, follow them to the shops or something, where there is only neutral territory. They can become quite uncomfortable. Then again the thing could be a minger and your better off without it.

Re: CITROEN BX 16V Mi.16 ENGINE 165BHP RACE /TRACKDAY/ROAD C
By all accounts and by the looks of it, it is a minger, but I'd like to save it or failing that use it for parts for my own track car.
First things first, I think it's time to text Chris - or is it Brian - again and see if he wants to do a deal... at the original price of £350 obviously!
If he doesn't, I have a fair bit of information about him and the car now, so I think a little website about it all might be in order. I can make it findable enough that nobody will ever buy that car without knowing the history.
Quite apart from that, I can count the number of people who want to track a BX - apart from me - on the fingers of one... er... bleeding stump.
Incidentally Thread Bear - you're right - ebay have no reason to do anything at all, though I'll report this latest seller (eurekatriumph) and tell them the history of the car, which I imagine will get their user account deleted.

The plot thickens; Brian has sold it to a mate who I am now talking to. The mate sounds slightly more like a functioning member of society.

I can't remember what happened with it - you paid for it, right?

Re: CITROEN BX 16V Mi.16 ENGINE 165BHP RACE /TRACKDAY/ROAD C
I paid half of it, Brian rang up a couple of weeks later asking for the rest of it by BACS, I said no (had booked Land Rover and trailer to go and get it by that point anyway). Brian stopped answering my calls, and put it back up for sale again. That was when it was on ebay and "sold" for £1600 or so.
I spoke to him this morning, he said he had no wish to speak to me, he's done "quite enough speaking to you over the last couple of years"... cvnt.
He's not worth my time but I still fancy the roll cage out of it.
