Wanted: 4x4 transfer box speedo drive cog & rod.

Post by David »

Hi all, I need the rod with the cog on the end that goes inside the 4x4 transfer box to drive the speedo cable.

Mine has stripped 2 of its teeth when attempting to put it in the Peugeot transfer box  . I have looked on Ebay & found nothing, So has anyone on here got one in a scrap transfer box?

Its about 1/3 of the size of a 2WD cog, so I can't use one of them (plus the rod is longer anyway).

Otherwise does anyone have any idea how to repair it?

Thanks in advance.

if you mean the speedo drive sindle/cog here is the OE part No.

4X4

NFP
TACHOMETER CONTROL PINION
15 DENT

ignore citroens definition as it should read speedo not "TACHOMETER",

you can do a gooooogly search with the No. to see if anyone has NOS = new old stock

just a bit lost in translation again

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

I assume that's what its called; its just a metal rod with a black plastic cog on the end with 15 teeth on it.

I have also found out why the Peugeot transfer box stripped the teeth off it; The Citroen transfer box's cog has 15 teeth & the Peugeot one has 13!

I have had no luck finding anything yet; I have been to 4 engineering places & they all say they can't do anything with it.

I have looked in all my gearboxes to try to find a cog the same, to no avail. The cog in the automatic gearbox out of my BX is the same as the 2wd manual, so I can't use that.

Would it be possible to modify a 2wd setup & use it in the transfer box? I'm running out of ideas now.

Someone must have a cog in a scrap transfer box? [-o<
