Power steering pump? Now I thought BXs' have got a hydraulc pump which did the lot...

Unless the 16v are more than a bit different.......

I suspect it needs flushing the system, at least a drain and refill, also check pressure from Accumulator sphere. How old is that?

I don't understand how pinching an LHM pipe at the rear causes a problem with the steering components located at the front?

The hydraulic pump is likely okay if the suspension works correctly. The steering is tapped off using the FDV Valve and then runs through the Pinion Valve before reaching the Steering Ram. You will find the FDV on the front of the engine, the other 2 component on the steering rack itself.

Tink, I believe you will find that the accy sphere is in the suspension circuit, not the steering. So long as its
above a few measly seconds of tick time there should be no back effect on the FDV. :)

It seems to be on both, according to the Haynes Fig 8.2 (page 201) brown manual, via another 'box'. It certainly feeds to the FDV. I've noticed improved braking and steering in the past having changed the Accumulator sphere so it has at least a marginal effect, possibly just securing the FDV better.

Mighty odd, that pinching at pipe at the rear, affects the circuit of the PAS. In fact, impossible unless creating a total blockage or airlock. As all the rear pipes are still available and the front to rear pipe(s) can be made up, I don't really know what the 'experts' at Greendales garage are playing at. Probably never bled a Citroen before......

if they pinched/crushed one pipe maybe they did similar to others,

especially if the steering was ok before they touched the car,

also most main dealers wouldnt know one end of a BX from another these days
