Wet seatbelt

Post by rutter123 »

Seems the driver side seatbelt is wet whilst pulled fully out, this is prob bad news or more rust issues, any suggestions.
The seatbelt has not got wet due to being shut outside the car.

As the seat belt retracting mechanism is close to the floor, have you had a look at the carpets front and back to check for damp.

We had a saloon years ago with wet carpets and when we pulled up the rear seat cushion, found a swimming pool. The rain channels running down the boot lid were blocked and therefore excess water was running into the car.

Another factor may be worn or perished window rubbers.

Carpets are dry as is under the rear seat, drain channels are all also clear, I cant see how window rubbers would cause this as the b pillars are isolated from this, i suspect the plastic roof rails maybe leaking if this is a possibility?

I would suggest pulling the plastic that covers up the seat belt off & have a look behind. It could be a sunroof drain channel blocked & water running down the pillar on to the belt, otherwise it might be in the bottom of the pillar where the belt mechanism sits, Although I would expect the carpet to be wet in that case.

Otherwise is the car interior damp?
