17TD Rough running

Post by Rich »

Hi all.

My good mate Charlie Vacy Ash has a 17TD estate with 180000 miles under its wheels.

It's run fine for the last 4 years but has developed a bad fault in the last week and we wondered if any of you good forum folk could help...

We're pretty sure that it is not running on all cylinders as it's running very rough with white smoke from the exhaust. The injecters have been tested by a local firm and are fine.

Any ideas???????

How about air getting into the fuel system. That would make it run rough.

Head gasket, water getting into one of the cylinders hence the white smoke and not running on all cylinders, is it using any water?

Im with Andy as I mention on text Rich. I think its air getting into the fuel system.

Assuming Chas did the brake valve, has something nicked or levered against anything that may be allowing a bity of air in the fuel line?

Having said that, the headgasket thing might be true also, I seem to remember that his car has been using a little water very gently over the last few years hasn't it?
