I think that's where my written off C4 ended up with Copart. They have a few classics on there including a Chevette...

I missed the Copart auction for my old car.
Anybody know how much it went for? I saw that a bid of £80 was put on pre-auction.

Is it just me, or do those colour-coded wing mirrors look cool? :)

Just you, IMO

So there was no other damage? I can see it written off because it had a dislocated balljoint and a damaged driveshaft, as most insurers won't want to piss around with an old BX. But that being the case, surely the original guy would have just bought it back from the insurers, repaired it/had it repaired and carried on? :?

I hope the chap makes a few quid, I really do. Though he might want to dig out the headrests!

Chris lost faith in the car after it nearly killed him, I would have repaired it, but it's his choice.

I've passed his details on to the vendor so maybe chris can sell the missing headrests and parcel shelf on.

It's only a simple mechanical failure, fair enough it may have shook me up a bit at the time, but i'd have gotten the car fixed, but heyho, it looks like it could make the seller a tidy sum. As for it being a cat c, i don't think that'll have much impact on price tbh, it wouldn't bother me one iota as the price of the car is so cheap its hardly going to be affected if you sold it a few years down the road, unlike a much newer car, people tend to steer clear of writeoffs even if its as simple as a bust headlight & front wing.

Never seen a Morris - Minor, Marina etc with kingpin failure...... they used to be common. Seen a couple of very modern ones (cars and vans) let go the steering joint on mini r/abouts locally so hardly a BX major weakness. Might be the cumulative damge from the shitty potholes, so worth inspecting a little more frequently.

It's done more miles than that though I'm told as the speedos been bust for a while, even so the body looks lovely.

Remember though it will need a VIC (vehicle identity check) at a VOSA centre before you can/register tax it.
