BX Cruise Controller knowledge, anyone?

Post by Mike Holdstock »

Hi guys
From Sweden again, still in business.

I have just picked up a "new" BX, this time a 19 txi lhd from 1990. Only 91000km on the clock, no rust visible at all the normal points, has cleared the MOT absolutely rust-clean engine compartment... Could it be better?

One unusual item to sort out is cruise control (fitted below the light stalk).
I haven't had much of a look at it but browsing the web saw something that looked remarkably
like it illustrated in an XM of about the same age.

Any knowledge/handbooks/links of use to sorting out a non-functioning BX cruise controller?

OWNS a BX19i 1990 tri with only 110k km on the clock and no rust
OWNS a life-threatened BX16i and delighted with it (but poor relationship with test station)
HAS HAD 89 BX14iRE (dead)
HAS HAD 88 BX19GtI (dead)
HAD 89 BX14RE which was still motoring very well at 280.000km when there was too much rust (gone)
HAD about 5 GS (first 1978) in the 70's, 80's and 90's, loved them, would dearly have one again.
HAD a DS Break - Succumbed to the rust of ages..

Best cruise controller I know of is the right foot.

This sounds like a modification someone has done, I doubt you will find any official information on it.

I've only seen one with a cruise control - it was an aftermarket one and I was tempted to rescue the parts until I saw how incredibly complicated it was - don't think I've ever seen so many aftermarket relays in one small space!
