Wanted.Rubber windscreen seal/trim/border/frame.

Post by peterwight »

Wanted, rubber windscreen seal for my Meteor. Or is it called a trim? I refer to the black rubber rectangle that grips the glass, except mine is losing its grip due to a torn corner. No idea what to offer: please discuss. Also on 07580 805727. Yours, PW

I think I've got a spare one somewhere but I'm not sure and can't check right now - if you don't find one elsewhere, get back to me in ten days or so and I'll be in a position to root around and see if I've got one. It doesn't actually grip the glass - doesn't do anything to hold the screen in at all in fact. It's just a trim. You may find that to change it you'll need to remove ane re-bond the screen.

yep its actually a fillet, it also need to be fitted to the screen before the screen is bonded in place,
im sure you can not salvage one complete, as the edge under the screen is stuck fast in the screen bonding material,

Don't know either, but there's different part numbers for mk1 and mk2 screens I think, so maybe estate carries on with the mk1 version as the rear body is basically a mk1 with mk2 front wings. Not sure what the actual difference in the screens is though.

Many Thanks Kevr and Citronut (surely that should be Citronaut), I'll get back in touch in a fortnight as suggested,or otherwise procure one, which I now know is a fillet. The significant event in the fillet's life was the replacement of the glass two years ago. That's probably why the rubber is not embedded in whatever holds the screen in place; it grips through the tightness of the corners. The failing corner is now unattractively safe from wind-lift, stuck down with sticky tape.
