What to do with old spheres?

Post by rutter123 »

I have quite a lot of old spheres chucked in a box in a corner of my garage prob 20+, being as nowadays its just as cheap to replace rather than have the old ones re-gassed, most of them being the amtec type as supplied by GSF, is it just destination scrap metal bin?

Bury them in a field somewhere for someone to dig up in future as an intelligence test. If the bomb squad think they're grenades, we're definitely all doomed.

I've got loads here and had no joy on FCF, except someone who wanted me to post them. I was going to find out how much that was, but haven't had a chance! I would think scrap by the sounds of it.

Mulley, most of them are pretty flat apart from 4 i took off the tgd when it got scrapped which at the time were prob down to 50% gassed but these are gen citroen ones which i will keep for re-gassing maybe one day, just seems a shame to bin the rest, after searching the net for re-gas at £30 per sphere plus the postage both ways it seems uneconomical when i can get new ones from local factors for less than £50 a pair. Such is the throw away world we live in.

I wondered about mounting them on my fence posts as decorative embellishments. Trouble is I would need two humongous ones for the gate posts, unless I used some other large automotive dud. maybe there should be a club stash where we attempt to build a tower out of them. Might get in the Turner Prize. :)

This is the best solution in my experience, the bomb squad don't tend to fall for them in my experience, but they love any excuse for a controlled explosion!

It has happened on several occasions in the past. We have chuckled about it on here more than once.
