Behind the glove box

Quick refresher needed as I really do not want to take out my glove box on my complete car.

My silver valver has the air duct missing so I am fitting a replacement but not sure if most of the wiring goes behind the duct or sits in front of it.

Any advice please?

If your old dashboard was as cracked as mine it is totally worth it!

As an aside, anyone want to send me a perfect black dash with a non-cracked demister vent?

My gti has no cracks on the air vent, a lot to be said for being kept garaged most of its life.
