Drivers Seat Belt Buckle Wanted

Post by Tim Leech »

The one on J119 is a bit iffy, sometimes it wont latch and sometimes it wont release, but as its done 192000 miles I guess its forgiven for being a bit tired!

Thanks

Hi Tim, have you tried giving it a squirt with some PTFE dry lube type spray? I've had similar issues in the past and it's always worked for me. Mind you, at 192k, it might be passed that stage!

I suggested the dry lube as it lubricates without leaving an oily residue. I'm sure ordinary WD40 would do the trick too, just a bit smellier and oilier :D

A good blow out with compressed air often works wonders too, they trap all sorts in there over the years.

Be aware that there are different types of seat belt buckles and they are NOT interchangeable. So if you change the belt and buckle you need to change the receiving part too. You may be lucky and have matching types if you find one in a scrapper but do not bank on it. I guarantee the French made ones do not fit the Hungarian made ones for starters...
