BX Automatic Diesel 1769cc or 1905cc??

Post by alibongo »

I'm new to the BX scene and new to this forum. I want to buy a non-turbo Diesel Automatic, however I am unsure which is the better engine and gearbox? Am I right in assuming the gearbox is exactly the same for both engines? Also, what is the difference between the two engines, 1769cc and 1905cc? Finally, if anyone knows of a Diesel Automatic for sale please let me know. I'm flexible so I don't mind a project. All offers and leads are welcome.

Far as I know, they only did the auto diesel with the 1905. As for buying one, you've just missed the boat.

The 1769 is a turbo diesel (90hp) and 1905 is naturally aspirated (70hp) not sure ive seen an auto t/d but its a nice thought. Both very good engines providing they have been serviced regular and not overheated.

There were n/a 1769 versions and I recall some of the longer term members running them. Lacks power though, so probably not the best coupling to an autobox.

Turbo diesel autos weren't available although you could get a xantia with that set up so maybe you could transplant.
