WANTED BX Diesel Automatic
WANTED BX Diesel Automatic
I want to buy a BX Diesel Automatic. Is anyone selling their BX or do you know of one that is possibly coming up for sale? I am flexible so I don't mind if it's a non-running project or an immaculate 'show car'. Any leads, advice and offers would be very welcome!

Unless you can't drive an manual I would give some thought to a manual as the autos are rather slow!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

I think not, mine keeps up with modern traffic no problem, not a sports car but not slow.Tim Leech wrote:Unless you can't drive an manual I would give some thought to a manual as the autos are rather slow!

Traffic yes but out on the motorway I find them a bit hard work.

Don't know about the diesels but the auto on the GTi is quite spritely and the kickdown is very effective when needing to overtake "obstacle course drivers"!Tim Leech wrote:Traffic yes but out on the motorway I find them a bit hard work.
If you're referring to motorway gearing, the final drive on the GTi in 4th is the same as a manual in 5th so no difference there and the torque converter is fully by-passed in 4th.

My tzi is the same set up and the torque of the 8v 1.9i works well with it. The 19TRS also is a nice drive but the lower powered cars can be a bit hard work when attached to an autobox.
Mind you nothing's as bad as my cousins 1984 cavalier 1.3L auto!!

You sure; I had n automatic mini (original BL mini 1973/4 not BMW) 998cc auto , 0-60 29 seconds. It was without doubt the worst car I've ever owned and I've hd a few.

Thinking about it; it may well have been the 850cc!
