Oiil filter cooler differences

Post by KevR »

Whilst fitting the new radiator and hoses on the grey TZD I snapped a spigot off the oil filter cooler (which was presumably why it's been weeping for ages - about to fail anyway.

Thought i had a spare, found two! But they were both very different to the one on the car, so I thought they were from something else. So I took the one off the other TZD. But that turned out to be different again. And once fitted to the grey one it leaked, due to pinholes from rusting from the inside out.
Here's the four I have. From left to right, the original from the grey one (seems to be aluminium bodied), then the one from the white TZD, then the other two spares, one of which came from a TZD I think, and the other from a CX engine in a Peugeot J9 van.
The two on the right have what looks like presure relief valves in. The others don't seem to.
This is from the filter side:

Also found that the mounting through bolt/tube is different. The one on the white TZD was shorter, and not long enough for any of the other three.

So, anyone got any ideas which if any of these are the 'right 'type and whether running the 'wrong' type is likely to lead to plague, madness and the decline of western civilization....? Currently running the one on the right - at least it doesn't leak!
