Timing belt cover - XU5 or XU9 petrol

Post by Kitch » Mon Feb 01, 2016 10:14 am

Hi all,

Gone and lost a bit of the timing belt cover on the GT :( I'll work without it, but obviously I'd rather not having put so much effort into it so far.

The bit I really need is the section directly below the engine mount bracket, forming the leading edge of the cover (it's in about 4 sections). No idea what I've done with the original, but it definitely was there! That said, it's all a bit tired, so if someone has a complete set I'd be interested in that too.

Thanks

Tinkley

Although this is from a Pug forum maybe it gives the correct No's for some of the parts. There is also a pre 87 version which you may need. It's actually listed for carburated XU petrols and Pug models but I'll bet it is the same as long as the year is correct or engine designation lettering. For me with XU 52C it's fine, for your early 1.6 you might need another designation.

Interestingly the top cover is plastic on my auto which is five months newer than the oldest Athena...

Thanks for the picture, I was struggling to find one! Guess I would need to pre-87 version. It's for the GT, so it's XU9, but looks like it's #5 on that diagram.
