Wonder how easy they'd be to make with a 3D printer?

Very easy, I have the 3D software and a friend with a very good quality 3D printer. Could even do a proper (sintered) metal one....

Could model the whole car too...

Restart production of tailblazers, contoured mudflaps and headlamp protectors. You'd be able to retire on the proceeds. :D

And I need a the nearside plastic thingy on the leading edge of the rear wing. What's it called?

Actually just been on a 3D photography course myself and I think the possibilities are only constrained by one's imagination.

Yes, there are a couple of scanning programs that can pretty much give you a 3D model in something useable. Had stuff laser scanned over 20 years ago into point cloud surfaces, nightmare to deal with really but better than nothing. Mostly (3D photograph software) they give mesh surfaces which although you use them to create 3D print files are not as good as true NURB surfaces. Most decent CAD systems use NURBS and Open GL to render. I think the cosmetic parts could be printed OK and last well enough, even some working bits too although I would be concerned about the long term life with UV, vibration etc. I've done stuff printed and taking 6+ BAR water pressure - without it exploding...
But also good for lost wax casting, as you print the wax and get a foundry to cast etc.
