Coolant Temp Gauge Wiring

Hello all,

I am looking to install a coolant temperatrue gauge to my GT - i'd like to know how hot the engine is when sitting in traffic etc.

The most sensible mounti8ng pioint seems to be just to the left of the steering wheel under the dash where the indicator/wiper stalk would be if it had one (MK1 lego dash)., Wiring is not something I have done much/any of before, so if anyone has any ideas where I can connect the following wires:

-Earth
-Live feed foir the lamp (when ignition is on)
-Live feed for the gauge (when ignition is on)

I'm confident I can do the temperature sender bit. I'd very much appreceiate any ideas!

The easiest point would be the lights-on beeper, as that has all 3 wires going to it. That is assuming the Mk1 is the same with it under the steering column...

I popped over this evening to put a can of fuel in her ready for collection tomorrow, and I don't think she has a lights on beeper at least not one that works!

My 14RE (1988) did not have a beeper. My later 1.6s (1991) do, so may be year/model dependent.
