Tracking down a cars history

Does anyone here know how to track down a cars history with just the VIN number?

I am trying to track down the past life of the TZD Turbo Estate that I have just acquired for its 4 years in the UK before being sent to NZ. Unlike my TXD I dont have the previous reg even though I do have a service log from Ipswich.

More trying to find out its UK reg number.

Dvla in swansea may be able to help with that. Should be able to contact them with an email. But its a pain to find the area you want on their website https://www.gov.uk/contact-the-dvla

Im used to getting this info for old triumph cars and thats easy as they have the british motor heritage centre to write too which has all the old actory records. But im not sure their is a citroen equivalent.
