Hello everyone
I've lurked here a long while as a non-member and as I've finally joined it seemed an apt time to start a blog for my BX.
For some reason I've always wanted a BX, so this year I decided it was something I finally had to do. My only requirements were that any potential BX of mine had to be a turbodiesel, and it had to be triton green. I saw a few but nothing to really tempt me until a Hurricane came up for sale at an attractive (well, cheap) price locally to me. Whilst slightly rough around the edges, for the price I couldn't argue and finally I became a BX owner.
Inevitably it's had its problems: the head gasket went a few weeks into my ownership (and was repaired by a very unenthusiastic Citroen specialist who thought I should scrap the car); the starter motor also gave up the ghost in an entirely inconvenient location and it's currently sat broken outside my house while I try to discover where air is intruding into the fuel system. And it's a neglected, previously poorly maintained BX that's sat around for years so small jobs have become trickier than they otherwise would have been, but it'll be a good one evetually.
Niggles aside though, it's a good one and I look forward to it finally being sorted.
As for my other cars:
This has been my labour of love for nearly five years now. Catastrophically broken from the get go, it should return to the road this year after two years off. Still, a life without a Rover V8 is not a life well lived.
The Daihatsu Sirion is my 'modern'. Reliable but by no means boring.

Re: Introducing Myself and my BX
Welcome! I have an Sd1 aswell! Find a decent Citroen specialist, anyone who said scrap it doesn't deserve your money.
Where are you?

Re: Introducing Myself and my BX
So somebody else does have an SD1/BX combiation! Your V8-S is in excellent condition for a pre-facelift car. Hopefully it works better than mine.
I've vowed not to go back to the specialist again, post-HG change was when it first started letting air into the fuel system, and my attempts to solve the problem has disturbed parts of the fuel system that haven't been touched for 24 years and made the problem worse. And I can do without being told my car is crap by somebody who should be an enthusiast.
I'm in Glossop, between Manchester and Sheffield.

Re: Introducing Myself and my BX
There's plenty of good Citroen specialists around, I use Bourne Citroen centre or Chevronics, neither are local but I know and trust them.

Re: Introducing Myself and my BX
If I need another specialist I'll consider one of your recommendations, there seem to be a few dotted about south Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire with very little information available about them which I had thought of trying. Apparently Citroen specilaists can be a funny breed.
Rather guiltily for a Citroen-related forum my username is taken from a Renault engine. It's the only one I can guarantee nobody will have used before!

Welcome along! There's a slim chance I may be heading over to my parents in Sheffield this weekend, so if you want another pair of eyes/hands I'll let you know if I am passing.

Re: Introducing Myself and my BX
Typically I'm out and about this weekend, off to the Autoshite meetup in Cannock tomorrow and I think Madame Cleon-Fonte has plans for Sunday. I've bought a rebuild kit for the fuel filter housing so fingers crossed that works, although it seems to be lost in the post . Hit me up next time you're in the area though, I'll put the kettle on.mat_fenwick wrote:Welcome along! Re: Introducing Myself and my BX
If you don't mind travelling some distance then I cam recommended NFC Autocare in Thornton Cleveleys and Dave Ashworth Citroen in Blackpool. Both are enthusiastic about the BX.

Oh, and on the specialist front we have Ray Calvert at C&C Motors in Bradford - good guy, knows his stuff.
