Dreaded boot floors.

Post by Richb » Sat Feb 11, 2017 4:56 pm

Hi again everyone. Been a while, been lured away to the ease of use facebook!

Im looking at doing the boot floor. Its gone in the usual corners. Also along the front edge above cross member. Its all run of the mill to me. Instead of plating it, it could ideally do with a new panel. Now i guess a boot floor panel is about as easy to get as rocking horse excrement. But has anyone reied to make their own panel? Or done a guide to repairing the floor in terms of making up sections. I have the tools to put in the ribs etc and can make the sections required.

Hi Rich doubtful you will get repair panels unless Barry at Bourne has got some, I would suspect its gonna be a cut and repair job as is usually the case.

I will have a ring. Im tempted with a quarter panel for one side for ease over a repair on a spat thats gone a bit higher than normal.
If not i may just unpick it and make a new floor. I can put ribs in, wont be quite the same. But will make a better job. Jows your estate doing?

The estate going well all the front end is done with new wings grille headlamps etc 99% of the rusty issues have been addressed just the brakes and engine service to do and a few small jobs inc a pipe or two, kicking myself I sold you those rear disc back plates as these estate ones are really rusted but its getting there hopefully be on the road springtime. How's things your end guess your busy.

Yeah busy with work. Also dropped on a load if old citroen parts which im sorting through. Loads of BX stuff in it. Just sorting through it. Just none of the tin work which i could do with. Ive doors and bonnets etc. Loads of hydraulics. Just need to fathom out what i need and what ive got. Ive repainted the dust shields and fitted them on to a pair of fully rebuilt arms. Im hust short of those washer / guards that press in before the bearing. Having some made hopefully.

Barry recently repaired the floor in my Athena but he made the plate himself, afaik repair panels aren't available.

Looks like make your own panel time. Not that complicated as its all basically flat panels. Just would save time.
