Hi all, after 22 months of ownership, I've decided to sell my BX TZD. It's a 1991 model without ABS, 5 speed manual. I thought I'd put it on here first but will probably try a classified advert on Ebay over the weekend.
138 500 miles (will increase as still in use)
Mot'd until 10th December 2017 (mot advisories sorted out)
I bought the Citroen in July 2015 with 129k on the clock as I'd always fancied one and wanted something a bit different to share my daily commute with my every day car. I've used it all year round and with regular maintenance, it's been great fun but I need to release funds for my new project so it's time to let someone else enjoy it.
It has started first time with a single heat of the glow plugs all winter, The 1.7 XUD diesel engine is mechanically strong and pulls well, suspension rises and falls as it should. The heater is much better than my Peugeot Partner too! I fitted an aftermarket capilery temperature gauge in place of the amber warning light of doom, sits at a steady 79 – 81c in normal driving conditions.
The body is very good for it's age, it does have a few marks and dings so don't expect a show car but there is very little rust present and virtually none on the upper body. The drivers door check area was repaired properly by myself last year, pictures to prove. It has had a couple of repairs to the inner wings prior to my purchase, they're up to mot standard but would benefit from being tidied up a bit but that aside, it's a good solid example.
The interior is really clean and tidy, no rips or damage to the seats, carpets etc. TZD spec includes alloy wheels, electric windows, central locking, sunroof, front & rear fog lights and rear window blinds, although the securing clips for these are broken. Sunroof works and doesn't leak. Comes with original (working) remote control and 2 keys.
The first owner had the car until 2010 by which time it had covered approximately 120,000 miles. There is extensive history with lots of receipts showing plenty of maintenance at Citroen specialists. It then seems to have had a handful of owners in a short period of time before I bought the car in 2015. I carry out my own maintenance and I am a classic car enthusiast.
Viewing is highly recommended and as it is still taxed, test drives are welcome, providing you have appropriate insurance cover in place.
Asking price is £1150 ovno, the car is located in Fife, Scotland.
Cheers Jim

1991 BX TZD Hatchback, biodiesel powered
2007 Peugeot Partner 1.6HDi - everyday work horse, totally reliable but so dull 60k miles on my homemade biodiesel so mega cheap to run!
1967 Singer Chamois Coupe - owned since 1998, fully restored by myself - love it.
1991 Kawasaki GPz900r - owned since 2004, awaiting light restoration & a bit of TLC.
2002 Triumph Daytona 955i - bought in 2014 so that I could take Kawasaki off the road to restore - that's my excuse anyway

Re: 1991 BX TZD FOR SALE - Fife, Scotland
That is one lovely looking TZD, a very nice colour too! Good luck with the sale and I hope you get your asking price.
It seems that prices in general for a nice useable BX are on the up, and TZDs are IMO the 'go to' daily driver classic car it seems. They get good MPG and are such nice cruisers that you can do 7/8 hours driving and not be in agony at the end of it.

Thanks for your comments Tizzy, I loved the colour too but it's a bugger to keep clean! Looks lie mine is barely run in compared to your Aubergine one!

Re: 1991 BX TZD FOR SALE - Fife, Scotland
Really nice car. I would've asked for more!
I really like the idea of a temp gauge on mine without using a GTI dash etc, just for peace of mind. Did you just put the sender wire through a grommet near where the steering column goes through the bulkhead? Really can't be arsed taking whole dash apart.
Thanks, and best of luck with the sale.

Re: 1991 BX TZD FOR SALE - Fife, Scotland
Thanks for the comments, I thought it was a fair price, not too cheap but not being greedy either
If I remember correctly, I took the sender wire over to the left hand side and through a grommet behind the fuse box. The temp gauge has been great, unfortunately that particular one doesn't seem to be available anymore.
regards, Jim

Re: 1991 BX TZD FOR SALE - Fife, Scotland
Sounds like it's a well loved car Tizzy Mine is currently on ebay, its a classified advert but has 82 watchers!!! I had a couple of enquiries last weekend, one from the guy who owned it 2 owners back as well.
I'd like to see it go to a good home, the BX's are getting thin on the ground now and it's certainly been a fun car to own
Cheers Jim

Hi all, that's the BX off to it's new home, it's gone just down the road so I should still see it running around
I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone on here for all the help and advice I've had during my ownership, what a great forum with lots of friendly and knowledgeable people on it.
Best wishes to you all for the future and happy BX'ing too!
Regards, Jim
